PTS Covid Update - May 5th, 2020
As we approach our third month of COVID-19 shelter in place in New York and New Jersey (PTS office locations), we wanted to send an update on the current situation at PTS.
First, we want to thank our amazing customers, partners and vendors who have worked with PTS and have relied on PTS over the last two months. This amazing group of people has enabled PTS to maintain 100% employment levels. We have been fortunate so far that not one of our team has been put on unemployment or been furloughed. The entire PTS team is so grateful that we are working with such an amazing community.
What’s next? This month PTS will begin to bring staff back into the offices while allowing others to work from home, as they have done since March 24th. Those who have children who are not going back to school or day care will more than likely work from home through the summer and into the fall. As an essential NY business, we feel it is important to allow team members to return to the office occasionally, to get away and work in a safe place.
Personally, we want to pass along our sincere thanks to everyone who has stuck with PTS through these times. PTS celebrated 20 years of business this April. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the party we planned but bigger things have taken place. We jumped into a foxhole with the best partners, customers and vendors in business today. Thank you all.
A Note from PTS about COVID-19 - March 22nd, 2020
Dear PTS Customers and Partners,
As the COVID-19 situation evolves around the globe and intensifies in New York and New Jersey (PTS office locations), we have decided to modify our business hours to better suit our customers and our staff. For the next week, PTS staff who are working remotely will stagger their hours in order to offer support and customer service from 6:30 AM thru 10:00 PM est. We hope these hours will give our customers who are fighting this deadly virus and supporting critical operations more time during non-peak hours to contact us. Ironically, what allows this to work is that we have received some employee feedback regarding optimal work from home hours as it relates to their own household. Our staff have children ranging in age from college students down to Pre-K. Obviously their optimal hours are going to vary.
For PTS Mobile customers, please be aware that our distribution warehouses are located in multiple areas around the country and remain fully open. Previously, we offered same day shipping for in stock items on any order placed before 4:00 EST. This remains 100% available at this time and we'll provide updates if this changes.
Our first full week working remotely was mostly a success. Like most businesses working this way last week, we did experience occasional phone interruptions due to high bandwidth usage in our households. In NY, schools were shut down and our personal bandwidth hogs (the kids) were frequently streaming and playing games. With this in mind, we encourage you to use our ticket systems on https://www.tracerplus.com and https://www.clearstreamrfid.com, our chat system that is on all of our websites, or email us directly. If we do experience any VOIP issues we can always arrange a call on our cell phones.
As I mentioned in our first email last week, working remotely has been a core part of the PTS culture since we were founded over twenty years ago. PTS provides all employees with remote home office computer capabilities, paired office and home phones as well as cell phones connected to the phone system. Our main sales, accounting and tech support systems are also connected directly to key office personnel home offices. As a small business we understand that the flexibility of working from home helps our employees while helping our customers.
